Assembly

The T2 built from nothing, in the order it goes together: floor, engine, wheels, the steel body, panels, then paint.

Step 1 of 6: Floor and rails 0%

Square, on purpose.

The Jetour T2 is a five-seat 4x4 drawn almost entirely in straight lines, and the 2025 Red Dot jury noticed. Underneath: a 2.0 turbo with 390 Nm, on-demand four-wheel drive and a cabin built around a 15.6-inch screen.

Approach, ramp and departure angles of 28°, 18° and 30°, with 220 mm between the floor and the ground. On a wadi track, those numbers decide whether a ledge is a stop or a step.

Seven ways to read the ground.

Turn the dial as you would in the car. BorgWarner's on-demand four-wheel drive and an electronic rear limited-slip differential do the sorting; you pick the surface. Under the car the ground is cut away in section and drawn the way a borehole log draws it, with a detail of the tyre where it meets the ground; the recorder below traces what each wheel does.

Steel where it counts. Doors that do the work.

A monocoque in high-strength steel under flat, upright panels. The rear door swings wide on its side hinge and closes itself softly, the roof rails take what the 580-litre boot cannot, and the boot has power for the campsite.

Two litres, turbocharged. Full pull from 1,750 rpm.

Run the engine from idle to the red line: scroll, or drag the engine speed. Pulling force (torque) is the shove you feel when you press the pedal; power is how quickly the engine can keep delivering it.

Setting off Idle and pulling away. The turbo is still spinning up, so the push is gentle.

The curve is drawn through Jetour's published figures, 390 Nm from 1,750 to 4,000 rpm and 187 kW at 5,500 rpm; the shape between them is illustrative.

Where the lines go.

Plates from the photographic record. The T2 is a light off-roader by design, which covers far more weekends than the term suggests: gravel, sand, wet tracks, mountain roads.
